It is possible to combine energy work and massage to provide
tremendous help to cancer patients.  Many massage therapists and
energy workers refuse to work on cancer patients because of a fear of
either spreading the cancer to other parts of the body, or of stimulating
are also prevalent among patients that have tried to get massages or
body work and have been told "how dangerous it is."  The truth is, most
oncologists will approve massage for their patients.  There are some
restrictions, such as local contraindications at tumor sites, but for most
cancer patients massage is recommended as primary means of stress
reduction and relaxation. Reducing stress may help the immune system
to function more efficiently.  If you are concerned, simply ask for a note
from the doctor stating it is alright to receive a massage. If the doctor
actually prescribes the massage some insurance plans will pay the cost.
Most times the therapist will not bill the insurance. The patient will need
to pay first and submit a claim to their insurance company for
reimbursement.
